The Soccer Apprenticeship has been designed to provide graduates of SMWW’s Soccer Management & Scouting, Soccer Analytics and Soccer Agent course the advanced knowledge, skills and mindset to achieve their professional goals in soccer.
The 16-week program is focused for those that are looking to develop their career in soccer recruitment, talent ID, opposition analysis and football representation.
Over the 16- weeks apprentices will experience:
· Live & virtual scouting opportunities and the opportunity to produce opposition analysis and individual player assessments as requested by clubs
· Opportunity to shadow experienced scouts and agents
· Learn how to write professional reports to a standard expected by professional clubs and the opportunity for those to be critiqued my SMWW and professional soccer scouts
· North American Soccer Apprentices will gain accredited access for a minimum of 5 college soccer games (ticket included)
· UK based scouts will gain accredited club access to a minimum of 5 professional games and first team and academy levels (ticket included)
· Continual career assessment and consultation over the 16 weeks with professional scouts and SMWW faculty
· Develop essential skills required by clubs on how to use Wyscout, Instat, and other scouting/analytics platforms
Soccer Apprentices also have the opportunity to interact with soccer professionals from North America and the UK, in a series of live weekly web chats. The web chats are designed to develop knowledge skills and ensure continual professional development. Topics will include:
· Advice and techniques on how to produce professional player and opposition analysis reports
· Networking: How to create an effective network to build your career
· Soccer Data: How best to manage and manipulate data to identify and track players
· All in the planning: Managing logistics – fixture planning, time management, and resources
· Presentation: How to deliver professional player/opposition analysis reports to a professional club standard
· Technology Evolution: How to scout using Wyscout, Instat, and Hudl
· Beyond the Game: Importance and tactics of going beyond what you see on the pitch
· Working and managing data in soccer to identify and track talent

Steve Simmons
Steve Simmons is a UK/European Scout & Opposition Assessor for Sunderland AFC. He has over 15 years of scouting experience working for clubs across all tiers of professional football in England at first-team level whilst holding various positions ranging from working as a Next Opposition Analyst, Video Analyst, Senior UK/European Scout & as a first-team Scouting Manager whilst also directly working directly for some of the most respected figures in English football including former staff at Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, England senior national team & English Premier League winning captains! As a result of Steve’s experience, he's gained a large portfolio of contacts ranging from Scouts, Agents, Managers, Directors, and Coaches across the World of Football. In 2007, Steve took SMWW's Soccer Management & Scouting Course and eventually became the youngest first-team Premier League European football scout at just the age of 21. Now he is excited to assist SMWW students to follow in his footsteps! Steve has proven evidence of recommending players such as Dele Alli, Luke Shaw, Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Declan Rice & Eden Hazard before playing at senior level & prior to becoming household names. Steve will share his secrets to success in scouting.
Matt Martin
Matt Martin is the Soccer Syndicate's Director of Scouting. Previously, Matt was Director of Academy Scouting for Real Salt Lake (MLS), where he focused on scouting MLS, USL, and NCAA / College soccer matches in the USA. He also coordinated and managed a team of regional scouts for recruitment and advance scouting purposes. Prior to Real Salt Lake, Matt was the Director of Domestic Scouting for the Portland Timbers (MLS). and National Scouting Coordinator for Sporting Kansas City (MLS), covering the East Coast. His first scouting role was for New York Red Bulls (MLS) identifying players and delivering opposition analysis reports. Matt's professional career began with The Scouting Network (TSN) out of Birmingham, England after completing SMWW's Soccer Management and Scouting Course. Now he's a course mentor and a highly connected resource in the world of US soccer.
Lee Fraser
Lee Fraser has been with Newcastle United FC for over 14 years as a Technical Scout, Talent ID & Data Analyst. He has also provided consultancy services focused on analytics and data management for many soccer operations, including for the South African "Road to World Cup" in 1998, the UEFA Champions League in 2003, the UEFA Cup from 2003 – 2007 and the Welsh FA in 2007.
Lee is a highly respected and much sought after Analytics speaker having spoken in several countries and his knowledge and insight are invaluable.
Paul Molesworth
Paul Molesworth has spent over 20 years scouting the game at every level in the English game. He is currently Chief Scout of EFL League Two side Exeter City.
Paul began his scouting career working for Liverpool FC as Chief Scout for the Midlands area, a position he held for over 11 years. Paul has worked as a Chief Scout through all levels of English football including Swansea City, Bristol Rovers, Burton Albion, Port Vale, Kidderminster Harriers, Greenock Morton, Luton Town, Mansfield Town, Oxford United and Northampton Town
Prior to his role at Exeter City, Paul was Chief Scout of Newport County for two seasons delivering a scouting network across the UK focused on opposition analysis and Talent ID across the EFL, National League and Scotland.
Other experiences include Heritage Scout for the Scottish FA, Talent ID Scout for Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He was also Chief Scout for Swindon Town during their EFL League 2 Championship season (2011/12) and Chief Scout for Bristol Rovers during their League 2 Playoff Final win (2006/07).
As a player, Paul Molesworth was an accomplished left-back making professional appearances for Walsall FC in England, Hamarun Spartans in Malta and AEK in Cyprus.
John Print
John Print is SMWW's Head of Soccer. His unique experiences as both an agent and professional football scout allow him to be the perfect mentor for our soccer apprentices and soccer agent advisors. John has been a successful agent for over 15 years. He began his career after completing SMWW's Athlete Management course and successfully passing the FIFA Agent Exam in 2004. He has represented clients in the EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, MLS and other prominent leagues around the world.
John has also worked as a professional football scout for almost 20 years. He has produced opposition analysis reports and individual player scouting analysis for Bristol Rovers, Swindon Town, Burton Albion, and Newport County helping clubs achieve promotion and cup success. One of his scouting highlights was delivering an opposition analysis dossier on Tottenham Hotspur that almost helped Newport County earn a shock FA Cup victory in 2018. Read Here.
John has a tremendous understanding of the business of soccer both on and off the field. His experience and network in both soccer scouting and agency makes him a fantastic mentor to SMWW's students, scouting apprentices and agent advisors.
Scott Rezendez
Scott Rezendez is the Soccer Syndicate CEO and Co-Founder.
Scott helped launch the MLS Players Association in 2006 while completing his MBA in Sports Management at George Washington University. During his three years at the Players Association, he helped open their first office, advocated daily on behalf of the players as their liaison to the MLS Player Relations department on compensation and benefits issues. He worked tirelessly to prepare players & their agents for contract negotiations with the league, audited the league’s annual player payrolls, and compiled & released the first player salary survey.
Scott moved to General Manager of the Wilmington Hammerheads in preparation for their 2012 season. He was instrumental in building a competitive USL Pro roster that clawed its way to the Cup Final that season, despite having one of the lowest player budgets league-wide.
Scott moved to Sporting Kansas City as a domestic scout for the next 4 seasons. During Scott's era, Sporting Kansas City had a tremendous amount of success in the MLS Super Draft, identifying and selecting key contributors to their MLS roster. Scott has also assisted the Oklahoma City Energy FC & Swope Park Rangers in preparing for their inaugural seasons with in-depth player analysis.
In 2016, Scott became Technical Director of the Oklahoma City Energy and helped guide both their USL first team and PDL U-23. In 2017, the USL roster advanced to the Western Conference Finals while the U-23 roster held the best record nationally throughout all of PDL.
