Hocckey Jobs This Course Will Prepare You For

To the untrained eye, hockey can appear as a series of random movements where the best overall athletes prevail. To the trained eye, the game appears as an orchestra, where each individual movement and angle is perfectly planned and executed for a positive team result.

Analytics helps to develop team strategy and philosophy for each movement to get the maximum result, each player acquired to build the right team, every line change and grouping to perform at its seamless best.

Analytics is changing hockey, the time is now to get on board.

Kyle Dubas used hockey analytics to go from the Ontario Hockey League to GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In our hockey analytics course you will not only enjoy your mentors, but you will be amazed at the networking with fellow students in the course. Coaches, agents, scouts, former players, and hockey executives have taken this course.

The world of hockey analytics is relatively new, so you are probably wondering what this educational opportunity can do for your sports career. Well, we have your answer. Taking this course will prepare you for sports careers like these:

  • Hockey Analyst
  • Hockey Coach
  • Hockey Front Office
  • Hockey Operations
  • Hockey Research and Development
  • Hockey Media & Bloggers

Hockey Analytics Are More Than a Passing Fad, it’s the Future

Analytics has taken the sports industry by storm and nowhere is there greater upside and career potential than in the world of hockey.

While baseball and football have become the standard-bearers for analytics, due in part to their fantasy sports appeal, hockey teams that have embraced statistical analysis are seeing a direct correlation to team performance, and ultimately, the win column.

SMWW will teach you the skills needed to become a part of hockey’s statistical revolution!

Led by Mike Oke, General Manager of the Peterborough Petes, and a host of guest speakers from across the NHL, our 8-week online Hockey Analytics course will help you advance your career in hockey.

Unlike most online classes, we focus our program on interactive zoom video chats directly with your course mentors, which allows you the opportunity to build personal relationships and rapport with these successful leaders in the world of hockey analytics. After completing our Hockey Analytics course, we will help you redesign your resume to highlight your new skills and include that you have been taught first-hand by Mike Oke.

Now that is powerful!

“Analytics is one of the fastest-growing job types in the market according to our research. Hockey teams are hiring now, this is a new career path with vast potential,” says Dr. Lynn Lashbrook, President of SMWW.

Sports analytics is a field still in its infancy, with new ways of carving up and interpreting data emerging daily. By taking this course you’ll have the chance to be on the leading edge of the hockey analytics trend.

Why You Should Take Our Hockey Analytics Course:

One of the key determinations derived from analytics in hockey is that puck possession relates directly to winning. But how do you determine puck possession?

Advanced statistics like SAT% help determine puck possession and in turn, how to play winning hockey – proven by the fact that 5 of the last 7 Stanley Cup winners have ranked in the top 4 in the NHL in SAT%.

What is SAT%? How do you calculate it? How do you get your team to improve their SAT%? How do you draft players and build a roster that will complement this team philosophy? How do you use the statistical data to positively affect your team?

These are exactly the skills you will learn as part of our 8-week online Hockey Analytics course. In addition to SAT%, you’ll learn other foundational hockey analytic metrics like:

  • Corsi, Fenwick, PDO, Zone Starts, and other statistical measures
  • InStat Video Scouting (with 6 months free access)
  • Sabermetrics in hockey
  • Roles of Analytics in NHL
  • What a day in the life of an analyst is really like
  • Standard and advanced hockey statistics
  • Arbitration
  • Data-driven Advanced Scouting and in-game preparation
  • How to capture & analyze data and video content
  • Various hockey analytics software options
  • Statistical solutions used in the NHL

If you are a hockey coach looking to win games, or looking for entry-level positions within hockey leagues, associations, or teams, with third-party vendors and consultants, or you are just a hockey fan who wants to better understand the tools the pros use to evaluate players, this course is for you.

If you are thinking about a career in hockey, SMWW is a cutting-edge program that offers you the training, skills, vital networking, mentoring, and hockey specific training that will assist you in breaking in or advancing your career in professional hockey. They have hundreds of graduates now working at all levels of the game.
